  • About
The power of nonviolent action is being demonstrated in countries around the world, with notable recent examples in the region of the Middle East and North Africa. How citizens use these actions to promote political change is the core question Voices for Peace seeks to address. Collected here are examples of concrete actions taken by citizens to try to effect change using a range of different nonviolent strategies.

For each method of promoting change, students will read examples from at least three countries and watch clips of activists providing first person accounts of their experience with that form of civic engagement. Students will then be guided through a series of questions to help them assess the benefits and limitations of each strategy.
